Vice-Chairman of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and CPBMs MP, brutally beaten in the street of Prague
28.04.2006

Anticommunist campaigns have arisen in the Czech Republic and all around Europe. The Czech Republic has become an extremely negative example in this respect. Recently there has been e.g. an anticommunist attempt by the Senate and Parliament of the Czech Republic to prohibit using even a word communist; effort of the Ministry of Interior to make a Communist Youth Union (KSM) illegal; anticommunist propaganda is organized also by so called humanitarian organization - People in Need - through the public education system.

The political violence is encouraged also by the state. The clear example of this is the Foreign Affairs Ministry anti-communist supported campaign of producing of T-shirts with slogan "Kill a Communist to Strengthen Peace".

The above mentioned attack is one part of that anticommunist campaign. Jiri Dolejs, the MP and Vice-Chairman of the CPBM's CC, was brutally attacked by several men in Prague on Tuesday evening, just after leaving the House of Parliament, going out of underground station. Several unknown men sent him flying and kicked him, ranting and raving "You repulsive Communist".

Now, Jiri Dolejs is under medical care, having his face badly injured, and his left eye dangerously afflicted.

That act of violence has been sharply condemned, above all and amongst others, by the Chairman of CPBM Vojtech Filip, the Prime Minister of Czech Republic Jiri Paroubek and the Chairman of Parliament Lubomir Zaoralek. In the Czech Parliament's official statement is said: "We all condemn fascist practises being brought into life of the CzechRepublic"

Until today, Czech policemen have been hunting for the attackers.
