Moscow Kicks off United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) from Russia in January This Year
09.10.2012

United Nations Children's Fund should scrap all its projects “in connection with building of economic and donor capacity of the Russian Federation”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declares.

Moscow demands that United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) finished all projects in Russia. As "Interfax" was told in Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the fund was given time till December 31, 2012 to finish work. They reminded in the department that the country leaders in September, 2009 decided to close step by step representations of programs and United Nations Funds in Russia.

The same reasons were given in relation to the decision about United States Agency for International Development (USAID) which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered to scrap all projects in Russia by October, 1.

United Nations Children’s Fund is trying to achieve observance of the rights of children, it’s engaged in attraction of investments into wellbeing of children, it supports the social policy focused on the child. In the Central and Eastern Europe office of UNICEF is engaged in work in the following directions: health and food; children and AIDS; basic education and gender equality; child protection and also ensuring readiness for emergency situations and response to them. UNICEF representation in Moscow was opened in 1997, in Russia the fund followed such programs as “Child Protection”, “Health and Youth Development”, “Early Childhood Development”, “Cities Friendly to Children”. One more office of the fund worked in Vladikavkaz and supervised UNICEF program in the North Caucasus.

- The best friend of children and athletes knows better what is necessary to us and what is superfluous, - editor-in-chief of FORUM.msk Anatoly Baranov noted. - Children in our country now live well, there are few homeless children - less than 2 million, all are healthy and eat well. Pedophiles are caught by Tesak. What do we need some United Nations with their Children’s Fund? It is better to close everything, just to remain Solovki and Magadan for heath improvement of workers open.
